Motorola Atrix Review

Motorola Atrix Review

The good: The Motorola Atrix 4G features a dual-core processor and a sharp qHD (quarter HD) display. The Android 2.2 smartphone has a sleek design and a 5-megapixel camera, a front-facing camera for video calls, and an HDMI port.
The bad: No 1080p HD video recording or playback at launch. You can't install non-Market third-party apps. We didn't experience great HSPA+ 4G data speeds.
The bottom line: The laptop dock is a decidedly cool (and pricey) feature, but the dual-core Motorola Atrix 4G has plenty to offer on its own. The smartphone packs speed and high-end features into a sleek package and earns its place at the top of AT&T's Android lineup.

Motorola has officially introduced the Atrix HD, an Ice Cream Sandwich-based model geared toward business users.
The company unveiled the model, which boasts a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 HD Colorboost display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, LTE, 8 GB of storage and an 8-megapixel camera, as well as Kevlar-clad back side, on itswebsite on Wednesday. The Atrix HD is billed as “business ready” partially because it comes preloaded withWebtop an app that, with an HDMI display and Bluetooth peripherals, can make the phone a PC replacement.
Pricing has not yet been set for the model, which will be distributed via AT&T.
In targeting business users, Google is no doubt looking for remaining BlackBerry defectors. Android’s share of the overall market topped 50% in the U.S. in April, while BlackBerry’s was 13.4%, a huge drop from the previous year’s 28.9%.

Motorola Atrix HD Sports 4.5-inch 720p Screen, 1.5GHz Dual-Core CPU And Kevlar

If you were waiting from a high-end phone from Motorola to match the HTC One X andSamsung Galaxy S3, that wait is now over. Or is it?

At first glance, the Motorola Atrix HD appears to have all the bits you would need or want from a high-end smartphone. It offers an HD Ready, 720 x 1,280 screen with added ColorBoost marketing. Taking care of processing duties we have an unnamed 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, which we assume is the new Snapdragon S4 – incidentally the same chip found in the US version of the HTC One X, and one that can happily go toe to toe with the quad-core Tegra 3 found in the UK version of HTC’s top phone. It’s backed by 1GB of RAM, which is still standard though we’re seeing 2GB in LG’s premium smartphone and some Korea-only versions of the S3.

The first possible disappointment is a ‘mere’ 8GB of permanent storage, but unlike the Galaxy Nexus or One X, it’s expandable via MicroSD – so in fact a cheap, quick upgrade will see you rocking 40GB or even 72GB.

The next is a 1,780mAh battery, where many were hoping for something closer to the 3,300mAh of the Droid RAZR Maxx. Then again, this is an 8.4mm thin phone, but even the S3 managed to fit in 2,100mAh. Motorola Atrix HD

Last but not least, it’ll be coming to market with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwhich, where it had been speculated that, as Motorola now belongs to Google, it might get early access to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Still, the new Atrix HD does have some aces up its sleeve. For one thing, its construction using Kevlar and Gorilla glass should make it a wee bit more durable than most, and it’s also “splash resistant” so should survive a rainy texting session.
